The picture is a little blurry, but his "vision" wasn't.
Not since 1981 has football been played on the campus at the University of Minnesota. That is until this year. 28 years later Football returned to campus and frankly the single person most responsible for its return is my friend and AD at the U, Joel Maturi. He willed the project to its conclusion in arguably the most difficult time in history to get major capital projects done on campuses around America. He's rightfully proud of the beautiful TCF Stadium.
I'm very proud of him for pushing and dreaming big. Others said it could never be done. Others were flat wrong! I love people like Joel who dream big and have vision. I love seeing the results of big dreams and vision... and doesn't everyone?
Stan and I were with Joel today touring the new stadium. Wow... best describes it. It houses the largest locker room in the world and is in the shape of a football. In the middle of the floor/carpet sets the protected cut-in Minnesota "M" with LED lights on the ceiling projecting down from a duplicate sized M on the ceiling. Pretty darn slick. Joel sets a good example for me and for us all. Good guys with big dreams can finish first! His hard work, perseverance and dreams have been rewarded.
